First step in registering a domain name is to search and find out whether your preferred domain name is available.

You can type the domain name in the search box below and click the Search button. Then the search results page of Namecheap website will open automatically. You can do the remaining steps there. So easy !

You can also search for the domain name availability at Namecheap website. To do that, open Namecheap website. In the Namecheap home page, type the domain name of your choice in the domain search box as shown below and click Search button.

The search results page of Namecheap is shown in the following the picture . If your preferred domain name is available to register, the search results will display it with a tick mark as shown below.

Whether you do domain name search from this page on our website or from Namecheap home page, you will get the same search results page shown below.

Here, we are buying a domain with the extension .ONLINE. However, you may purchase domains with any extensions available on Namecheap like .COM or .NET for example.

If the domain name is already taken by someone, you will be shown some suggested names with some variations of the searched domain name. You can try searching for different domain name options until you get a suitable one.

When you get a name of your choice, click on Add to Cart as shown in the above picture and continue with remaining steps in the next section.

NOTE: Sometimes you may be doing domain name search after signing into Namecheap account. In that case you can do as shown in the picture below.

When you click the Add to Cart button as told in the above section, the page in the following picture will open.

You will see recommendations for some other Namecheap products to buy like Web Hosting, VPN etc. This is optional. If you want to buy any of them, you can add them also to the shopping cart. If not, you can ignore it. Click Checkout as shown below.

The shopping cart shows the details of the domain name you are going to purchase as shown below. Check and ensure that the spelling of domain name is correct. This is very important because once the domain name is registered with a spelling mistake, you can’t fix it after that.

The default term of domain registration is one year as shown above. If you want you can change it to a different term like two years or more.

You will have to renew the domain after this time period. If you want to automatically renew the domain registration, change the Auto-Renew toggle switch to ON.

Domain privacy is enabled by default as shown. It means that your name and contact details will not be published publicly in WHOIS databases.

As told before, domain privacy is free for ever at Namecheap. This is a great feature of domain name registration with Namecheap. At most of the domain registrars, you will have an annual fee for domain privacy.

If you have a promo code apply it at the Promo Code text box as shown. Usually Namecheap has promotions at reduced prices for many occasions. Sometimes there are promotions specially for newbies.

Now click Confirm order.

Now you will be asked to sign in if you already have an account at Namecheap or signup if you don’t have one.

When you sign in to Namecheap account, you will be taken to the payment step automatically.

You can pay by credit card, debit card, Paypal or Account Funds.

If this is your first time purchase at Namecheap, you have to add your payment details. You have options to select a payment method or add new payment details.

You can also save payment details and setup a default payment method. This will save you some time while renewal of the domain or if you make any purchase later.

After selecting the payment details, Click Continue as shown below.

You can now review the domain configuration settings like WHOIS Contact Information, Domain Privacy and Nameserver settings.

The WHOIS Contact Information consists of Registrant Contact, Administrative Contact, Technical Contact and Billing Contact details.

The default information for these are set as your contact information provided at the time of initial sign up for the Namecheap account.

The default settings for the Nameserver is Namecheap BasicDNS.

If you want you can edit and change these details now. Then click Continue.

After reviewing the details click Pay Now as shown below.

Now you see a purchase success message and purchase summary. You can download the invoice if you want. You will also get an email from Namecheap with the domain registration details and invoice copy.

Now that you have completed the registration of your domain name, you can move to the next steps .

You may set up a website for the new domain, redirect your domain or set up your DNS as per your requirement.
